Choosing the best adjustable monitor mounts

for 24/7/365 mission critical settings can be complicated.

Xybix’s patented Rollervision® technology enables you to quickly and easily adjust all your monitors to the perfect ergonomic settings.

Monitor arms vs. Multi-Monitor Arrays

Using monitor arms for your multiple monitor needs may be sufficient if you are the only person who ever sits at your desk. But in the case of 24/7/365 dispatch, command and control, and healthcare imaging facilities, where each shift would need to adjust each monitor to fit their needs, this can be a real problem that compromises your team’s health.

A well-designed monitor array combined with a “smart” console can relieve users from the responsibility of having to correctly make multiple adjustments to each monitor every time they start their shift. The result – a consistent ergonomic working position that each user can easily manage without help from a manager or supervisor. In fact, little, if any, training or supervision is required to train users on the correct ergonomic focal distance of a monitor array. Therefore, the supervisors and managers can concentrate on more important elements of their high-pressure job.

National Ergonomic Standards for Multiple Monitor Computers

Setting multiple monitors to the exact settings is not a simple matter. Xybix’s technology makes sure these settings are accurate with the push of a button. The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) National Ergonomic Standard - ANSI/HFES 100 – 2007 suggests that the following adjustments would create the best possible ergonomic working environment for multiple monitor computer users:

  • 25° downward view angle to the center of the screen
  • Equal, or as close to equal as possible focal distance for each monitor. This requires the monitors to be positioned in an arc.
  • Perpendicular (90°) horizontal view angle to each screen to achieve the highest resolution and ease of viewing the monitor.
  • Adjustability of the focal distance to accommodate each individual’s specific visual requirements.  ANSI/HFES 100-2007 recommends a minimum of 10” back and forth adjustment with a suggested range of 19” – 29”.
