Better Ergonomics in a NEW Dispatch Center
Erie County Communications Center continuously strives to improve its police service provided to about 1 million people within the community.
With 10 Sheriffs’ Dispatchers, 20 Buffalo PD dispatchers, 40 911 call takers and 16 EMS dispatchers working around the clock, it requires an efficient facility focused on each individual to get the job done productively.
Erie County was not knowledgeable about height adjustable tables when they turned to Xybix to instruct and guide them through the installation of 48 new positions in their new communications center.
Paul Gajewski, 911 Deputy Director, one of the committee members, highly regarded the set up and the aesthetics of the workstations themselves. “We are a fairly conservative communication center and the Xybix workstations have given us a very pleasing environment as well as a professional feel. This new building and workstations have created a fresh start for our employees and enhanced the appreciation for their responsibilities and what they do each day for the community.”
Paul felt that not only does Xybix have a quality and durable product but the systems are attractive. He was impressed with the height adjustable RollerVision as well as the cable management and organization throughout the workstations themselves. His committee was happy with the final outcome and employees were pleased with the ergonomically correct consoles for better form, function and health.
Paul counted on Xybix to know the ropes and assist them through a smooth and successful install of the project. “The drawings were key to the project and really helped depict how the room was going to be set up,” states Paul. “There were small spaces to account for so the designers were faced with a space challenge. I put my faith in Xybix and we pulled through,” added Paul.
Kelley Smith, the Xybix project manager came in with his team and worked diligently to get Erie County up and running quickly so as not to disrupt the functionality of the center. Many surrounding counties came to check out the new center and appreciated the conservative yet professional feel that was accomplished. As a result, these counties later installed with Xybix bringing their centers up to the standard.
The dedicated, friendly and hard working people at Xybix that Erie County worked with, including Kelley Smith – install manager, Judi Jump- head designer, Ken Carson- VP Sales, Bill Haines- Sales Rep and Jenn Lewis- customer service, made this project a success story as well as a delight. The entire group willing to help made for a very positive and productive experience with the Xybix Team. “I have no complaints, we were treated fairly and Xybix helped us achieve a state-of-the-art Communications Center,” expressed Paul.
When Paul needed to make a few modifications with higher walls due to acoustics, Xybix responded quickly. A month later when Xybix came out with new and improved hand controls Xybix took action quickly with improved flush mount hand controls for the workstations, which were installed efficiently with no disruption.
